Once Upon a Farm

Once Upon a Farm made its name with refrigerated, cold-pressed baby food pouches at a time when nearly every competitor on a grocery shelf was room-temperature and heat-processed, arguing that gentler processing keeps more nutrients and flavor intact. The lineup has grown from purees into toddler-stage meals and smoothies, following a kid through the early years rather than stopping at six months.

Because the pouches are refrigerated rather than shelf-stable, they need a cold shipping box and a fridge at the other end, which is a bigger ask than tossing a jar in a diaper bag but matters to parents prioritizing less-processed food. The company has real name recognition beyond most baby food startups, thanks in part to actress and co-founder Jennifer Garner’s public involvement. It fits parents feeding an infant or toddler who want an organic, minimally processed option and are comfortable managing the cold-chain delivery.
