Meatless frozen meals, heat and eat

Mosaic Foods makes frozen vegetarian meals that arrive fully cooked; you reheat them in the microwave, on the stove or, for the bigger trays, in the oven. Its homepage headline is "Meatless Meals in Minutes", with the promise of "no shopping, prep, or cleanup". The company says its meals are cooked by hand by expert chefs using whole ingredients.

It's worth being precise about the diet. Everything is meatless, and much of the menu is plant-based, but not all of it is vegan. The burrito bowl is described as vegan, and the smoothies come from Splendid Spoon, which the homepage says has added 20+ vegan superfood meals, but several dishes use dairy or eggs: the Mixed Bean Chili & Cornbread comes with cheese, the Broccoli Cheddar Mac uses cheddar, the pumpkin lasagna lists milk, ricotta, mozzarella and eggs, and the pizzas are cheese-topped. The allergen line on each item makes this clear.

How ordering works

The homepage lays out how it works: pick a plan, fill your box, receive your delivery, heat and enjoy. It says you can edit, skip or cancel any time with no penalties, and several products are marked "No subscription required", so you can buy bundles one-off as well. The shop is organized into Veggie Bowls, Family Meals, Pizzas, Smoothies, Soups, Oat Bowls and a Pantry section, plus bundles: a Power Pack of 20 top-rated, high-protein meals, a Family Pack, and a Low-sodium Pack. Gifting is offered too, through a Gift Mosaic option in the menu, and there's an Our Story page about the company.

New customers are covered by what the company calls its 100% Guarantee: if you don't love your meals, it will issue a full refund on your first order.

What it costs

Prices appear on the menu. A Veggie Bowl is $11.99. A Family Meal, which serves 4, is $24.95, and the family pack lets you choose any 6 family meals, which ship free with no subscription. Soups were on sale at $9.99 from $12.49, and Oat Bowls are $6.99. The site doesn't state a general shipping fee or minimum order on the homepage; free shipping is attached to the family meals offer in particular. There's no separate introductory discount beyond the first-order guarantee.

The food

The veggie bowls are the core of the menu and lean global. Examples: the Naked Burrito Bowl (black beans, basmati rice, avocado sauce and corn salsa), a Yaki Udon Bowl with seitan and hoisin, a Gochujang Power Bowl with tofu and edamame, an Aloo Masala Bowl with beluga lentils and okra, a Peanut Tofu Bowl the site calls its best-seller, Ginger Sesame Noodles with buckwheat soba, and a Coconut Chickpea Curry. Family trays include a Veggie Pot Pie, Broccoli Cheddar Mac and the pumpkin lasagna with vegan Italian sausage. Soups include Tomato Quinoa Chili, Cauliflower Tikka Soup and Kabocha Congee. Breakfast is oat bowls, such as Cranberry Cinnamon Oats and a savory Veggie Sausage & Gouda version. Pizzas include BBQ Seitan and Four Cheese. The newest dish on the homepage is a Meatball Marinara Noodles bowl with plant-based meatballs.

The product descriptions are worth reading because they're specific. The BBQ Seitan Pizza is pitched as a meatless take on the BBQ chicken pizza from a mall restaurant chain, on a spinach crust. The Veggie Pot Pie is gold potatoes, carrots, fennel and peas in a sage broth with brown lentils under a buttery crust. The Peanut Tofu Bowl pairs coconut curry, broccoli, peppers and roasted tofu over farro with crushed peanuts and charred pineapple, and its allergen line lists soy, peanuts, wheat, coconut and sesame. Smoothies from Splendid Spoon come in 8 fl oz servings and need no blending, just thawing and a shake.

Nutrition panels are published for each item, which is more than many frozen brands offer. The Naked Burrito Bowl is a 330g bowl with 12g protein and 530mg sodium; the Yaki Udon Bowl a 315g bowl with 20g protein and 830mg sodium; the Peanut Tofu Bowl has 27g protein and the Gochujang Power Bowl 23g. At the other end, the Coconut Chickpea Curry is a 376g bowl with 880mg sodium, and the Aloo Masala Bowl, potato tikka masala over beluga lentils with okra and lemon-roasted almonds, weighs 377g with 700mg sodium. Protein across the bowls runs from the low teens into the 20s, and sodium is significant on several bowls, which is where the Low-sodium Pack comes in. Items are tagged Wheat Free, Nut Free or Mild Heat where they apply. The site's ingredient notes carry health claims about individual ingredients; those are the company's claims.

Heating instructions are specific. Most bowls take 4-5 or 5-6 minutes in a 1000 W microwave, or about 7-10 minutes in a covered nonstick skillet with a little oil and water. Family trays go in the oven, for example 65-75 minutes at 425°F for the pot pie, and pizzas bake at 450°F for 16-20 minutes. Oat bowls take 2 minutes in the microwave plus another 30-60 seconds. Soups are loosened under warm water, then heated for 5 minutes, stirred and heated for 2–3 more.

Where it delivers

The homepage promises fast, frozen shipping in 100% recyclable packaging, but it doesn't name the states it covers, list delivery days or give transit times. Check your address at checkout.

What's left open, and who it suits

Coverage and general shipping costs are the main gaps. The "edit, skip or cancel" plan language sits next to "no subscription required" bundles without a full explanation of how the plan works, so read the terms at checkout. And anyone vegan needs to check each item's allergens rather than assume.

Mosaic suits vegetarians and people trying to eat more vegetables who want quick, filling meals with real nutrition labels, households who'd like a family-size tray for a weeknight dinner, and anyone who wants breakfast, lunch and dinner from one freezer order. It's less suited to strict vegans without label-checking, people watching sodium closely outside the low-sodium pack, and meat-eaters.
