Hummus Fit

Hummus Fit is a Long Island meal prep company that cooks fresh, fully prepared meals and sells them through its own stores, local delivery and UPS shipping. It's not a kit: meals arrive "fully cooked and delivered chilled, so you only need to reheat them," usually for about 2 minutes. The About page traces it to "a Turkish-American family kitchen, where Mediterranean cooking was the center of everything," founded on Long Island in 2015, and its motto is "20% Workout, 80% Hummus Fit." If you want high-protein, macro-labelled meals with a Mediterranean streak, and especially if you live on Long Island, where you can try it in person at a store.
How ordering works
You can buy meals à la carte, pick a non-subscription meal plan, or build a subscription. Subscriptions are delivered "Every 1, 2, or 3 weeks, or monthly," and the company says "No contracts. Cancel anytime." In your account you can skip an order ("Skipped deliveries are not billed"), pause, resume or cancel, and cancellation "is immediate." One catch, spelled out in the subscription policy: "Our current platform does not allow customers to swap meals or change items, quantities, or delivery frequency inside an active subscription." To change what's in the box, you email help@myhummusfit.com or cancel and start a new subscription. The policy also notes that "All plans automatically renew at the full retail price," and that discount codes may apply to your first purchase only.
The menu is large and filterable. The subscription collection lists 64 balanced meals, 12 à la carte items and 9 protein snacks, with filters including High Protein (52), Low Fat (18), Low Carb (14), Low Sodium (9), Gluten Free (22), Dairy Free (24), Sugar Free (21), Paleo (7), Vegan (7), Vegetarian (7), Keto (6), Halal (9) and Pescatarian (4). You can also filter by protein content, and 36 items carry 41g or more. The meal plans page includes a macro calculator that turns your stats and goal into daily calories and macros; the company labels it "Educational estimates only, not medical advice." If an item in your subscription runs out of stock, the system retries for up to 5 days and may pause the subscription if it's still unavailable.
What it costs
Individual meals on the homepage are listed at $11.75, for example the Texas Queso Steak Bowl and the Animal Style West Coast Beef Bowl. The packages page lists named plans, among them a Fast Food Series Meal Plan, a Bikini Meal Plan, a Bodybuilding Package, a Mens Physique Plan, a Bulking Meal Plan and a "Women's Meal Plan 10+1" the company says was "Designed by Registered Dietitian Sue Ann Ciatto." Pricing is shown per plan on its site, so the plan page itself is where to check.
Shipping costs are clear. Nationwide UPS shipping typically runs "from $19.99 to $29.99 depending on speed and location," with Canadian rates shown at checkout. Local delivery on Long Island (Suffolk and Nassau counties) is a $15 flat fee, and pickup at the stores is free. The company says it pays for "upgraded insured shipping at no extra charge."
The food itself
The company describes its meals as "Chef-prepared meals made with quality proteins, fresh ingredients, and avocado oil rooted in our family heritage," and says its chefs work "hand in hand with nutrition experts and registered dietitians." Every meal's macros and nutrition facts are on the label. Popular items include a Crispy Chicken Bowl, BBQ Meltdown and Farfalle & Chicken Alfredo, and there's a range of "Competition Approved" proteins and sides sold by the pound, such as grilled chicken, oven-baked cod, grilled flank steak, 90/10 lean ground beef, white basmati rice and baked sweet potato fries. The Buffin Bakery adds high-protein muffins with "up to 25 grams of protein," which keep "Up to 14 days in the refrigerator," and the snack range runs to Protein Buff Pops and frozen "Gree-Yo" treats.
Heating instructions are practical: remove the cover, set sauces aside, lay a wet paper towel over the meal, microwave for about 2 minutes, stir halfway, then add the sauce. The About page says meals "stay fresh in the fridge for five to seven days," and many can be frozen. The FAQ adds that the company sometimes flash-freezes meals "right before shipping for added freshness during the hotter months."
Who it reaches
Hummus Fit says it ships to "all 50 US states and Puerto Rico" and to Canada. Shipping runs by zone. Zone 1 (the Northeast, including New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and D.C.) ships Monday to Friday and arrives the next business day; Zone 2 (states like Ohio, Georgia, Michigan and Illinois) ships Monday to Thursday and arrives in 2 to 3 business days; Zone 3 (including Texas, Florida, California and Colorado) ships Monday to Wednesday and arrives in 3 to 5 business days. UPS 2nd Day Air is "mandatory in select states." Boxes are insulated and usually include dry ice. Orders take 24 to 48 business hours to process before shipping.
On Long Island, the About page counts 14 stores, 7 in Suffolk and 7 in Nassau, where you can walk in and buy meals, and orders placed during store hours are generally ready for pickup within 2 hours. Local delivery goes out on Sundays for orders placed by Friday at 9PM. The company also runs Hummus Mediterranean, a build-your-own-bowl restaurant in East Islip, Lake Grove and Holbrook.
What the site leaves open, and who it suits
The subscription's no-swap rule is the thing most likely to catch people out, and it sits oddly beside the subscribe page's promise that you can swap items "anytime by emailing us." Package prices have to be checked on the plan page itself. Refunds are "at our sole discretion," and quality issues must be reported within 24 hours.
Hummus Fit suits people on Long Island who can use the stores and Sunday delivery, and macro-trackers anywhere in the US or Canada who want a big, filterable, high-protein menu. The About page cites "a 4.78-star rating across more than 2,400 Google reviews." It suits less well anyone who wants to fine-tune a subscription box online without emailing support, or anyone far from the Northeast who would rather not pay the higher shipping tier.
